We are a community of more than 200 thought leaders and changemakers across 58 countries who are committed to growing and strengthening philanthropy to ensure that it reaches its fullest potential as a catalyst for social progress. WINGS at work

WINGS shares knowledge, creates new paths to progress and builds stakeholder partnerships around the world.

WINGSForum 2023: TRANSFORM

WINGSForum is the global event bringing together philanthropy leaders, professionals, networks, experts and changemakers, from around the world and representing all forms and types of philanthropy. From October 3-5, 2023, more than 350 attendees from over 50 countries gathered in Nairobi, Kenya for the 7th edition of WINGSForum, this year co-hosted with the African Philanthropy Network (APN).

Framework Partnership Agreement with the EU

Building upon WINGS’ 2023-2027 Strategic Plan and the success of the ‘Unlocking Philanthropy’s Potential’ initiative, WINGS signed a four-year Framework Partnership Agreement with the EU and, in July 2023, launched the Leap 4 Dev project. This project aims to leverage philanthropy’s engagement, funding, influence and added value to implement the 2030 Agenda and become a relevant partner in development cooperation.

Strengthening the African Philanthropy Support Ecosystem

The African philanthropy landscape is incredibly rich, characterised by a diversity of actors, practices, and policies. However, there is an important need for awareness-raising, engagement of local actors and the creation of strategic partnerships with national and international philanthropic actors to unlock the potential of African philanthropy.

#PhilanthropyForClimate

The #PhilanthropyForClimate movement is a growing community of more than 750 funders committing to integrating a climate lens across their activities, from governance to grantmaking, regardless of size, thematic focus or geographic location. Recognizing the urgent and intersectional nature of climate change, the initiative brings together global coordinated action of philanthropy on climate. The movement currently accounts for eight independent commitments in the UK, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, Canada and Brazil, as well as the International Commitment.

Acting Together to Lift Up Philanthropy

This research shows how to build a robust Philanthropy Support Ecosystem (PSE) to unlock the potential of philanthropy. It uses a suite of tools and approaches adaptable to different countries. The results will enable domestic foundations and donors, existing PSO leaders and other stakeholders to build the ecosystem they want.
